I am currently building a Street Stock for the 2011 season and hope to be ready for the first race of the 2011, which will be March 19th. Photos of the build will be posted as I get further along in the process.

I have given the Dave Vance Racing website a facelift and may also decide to give random Twitter updates throughout the 2011 racing season. If you have not made it out to a race yet, we race at 85 Speedway nearly every Saturday night, weather permitting, between mid-March and October.

Some of you may be visiting this website because you saw the my racing website written on the package from the candy call at 85 Speedway. I thank you for visiting my website and hope that you enjoy the photos and videos I have available.

Without you guys coming out and watching the races, it wouldn’t be fun. It is a great experience being out on the track, but it makes it so much more fun when I know there are people in the stands watching. If you get the chance, feel free to stop me when I’m walking by and introduce yourself. I love meeting new people and I encourage all young adults (even if everyone else calls you kids) to reach for your dreams.

I race to have fun, but most importantly, I race to put on a good show for the fans. That does not mean I do not to try to win… believe me, that is my goal, but I want each and every one of you to have a great time. It’s not about having wrecks (although they are sometimes fun to watch) or cars spinning out… it’s about doing the best you can with what you have and having fun at the same time.

There have been times I haven’t done well… actually, many times, and there are times when I feel like I’m on a streak, but my enjoyment comes from being on the track, having a good time, seeing your faces, and hoping that one day I will get to watch you race on the same track I did.

Races are rained out at 85 Speedway for May 15th. In fact, most, if not all, races in the North Texas area were rained out due to heavy rains and severe storms that passed through Friday. Luckily the storms avoided us Saturday, but there’s rain in the forecast for the next seven days.

Last weekend, May 8th, ended up being an scary, but eventful weekend for the cruiser races. Two separate incidents resulted in two drivers being taken to the hospital by CareFlight. Luckily both drivers will make a full recovery.

My car, which my dad was driving, ended up getting caught up in a wreck after another car flipped a few times. My car sustained a bent left front wheel, bent steering control arm, and a bent spindle. I have repaired the damage and the car is ready for the track again. The May 8th cruiser race ended under a red light due to the two injuries and long delays.

My dad should be racing my car again May 22, but I am planning on being back behind the wheel on May 29th.

Beginning August 1, 2009, Super Dave Vance, Porky at PDI Grafix, and 85 Speedway in Ennis, TX will be raffling off a 1978 Monte Carlo and car lettering job at 85 Speedway in Ennis, TX. The raffle will continue for a total of three race weekends. Any rainouts during the three weekend period will not count towards the three week raffle period. All money raised will go to helping Sandy (bomber #58) and Gary Ramsey, whose house burned on July 13th.

The car is already partially stripped and is ready for you to finish stripping and building. The car does not include a motor, transmission, driveshaft, or radiator. The car is available at the track for inspection.

Tickets for a chance to win ONLY the car are $5. Add an additional $1 to the ticket price if you would like a chance at winning the lettering job (valued at $150) AND the car (total of $6).

Tickets can be purchased at 85 Speedway at the track entrance, pit entrance, from me in the pits (#80 cruiser), or from someone who will be walking around in the stands. Listen for the announcer, Randy, to announce when someone will be wandering around in the stands selling tickets.

A random ticket will be drawn at 85 Speedway on August 15th, providing no rainouts occur between now and then. Winner will be announced at the track and will be notified by telephone. In the event we can not reach the winner or the winner is unable to take possession of the car, another ticket will be drawn at a later date.

Every single dollar from the raffle will be going to help Sandy and Gary Ramsey. Your help is greatly appreciated. I would also like to thank PDI Grafix for contributing to this great cause and 85 Speedway for their support.

Sincerely,

Dave Vance
